چکیده

The kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of cetirizine hydrochloride by Mn(VII) in acidic medium was studied spectrophotometrically. The electron transfer reaction between MnO4 and the drug have been studied over the range 2.0 ≤ 10 [cetirizine hydrochloride] ≤ 6.0, 2.5 ≤ pH ≤ 4.5 and 295 K ≤ T ≤ 313 K in aqueous medium. The electron transfer reaction shows first order dependence in [MnO4 ] T and [cetirizine hydrochloride]. The rate of the reaction was found to increase with increasing pH of the medium. The conjugate base of the reactant drug and MnO4 reacts to produce products. The activation parameters ∆H ≠ (kJ mol) and ∆S ≠ (JK mol) for the electron transfer reaction was found to be 33.93 and -143.00. The product of the reaction was cetirizine N-oxide.

Kinetics and mechanism of the reaction of lysine with permanganate ion at different ionic strengths and temperatures

The kinetics of Mn(VII) oxidation of lysine in moderately sulfuric acid solutions was studiedspectrophotometrically in the presence and absence of Mn(II) as catalyst. The reaction was arrangedto be under pseudo first-order condition with respect to Mn(VII). The results showed that the pseudofirst-order rate constant increases with increasing [H2SO4], [(Mn)II], and [lysine]. The dependence ofthe...

Kinetic, mechanistic and thermodynamic investigations on Iridium (III) catalyzed oxidation of D-Mannitol by N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide in perchloric acid medium

The present paper deals with the kinetics and mechanism of homogeneously Ir(III) chloride catalyzed oxidation of D-mannitol by chloramine-T [CAT] in perchloric acid medium in the temperature range of 30 to 45 0C. The reaction is carried out in the presence of mercuric acetate as a scavenger for chloride ion. The experimental results show first order kinetics with respect to the oxidant [CAT] an...

Kinetics and Mechanism of Oxidation of n-Pentanol by Tetramethylammonium Fluorochromate

The oxidation of n-pentanol by tetramethylammonium fluorochromate in acidic solution wasstudied using spectrophotometric technique. The reaction was arranged to be under pseudo firstorderconditions respect to the oxidant. A Michaelis-Menten type kinetic was observed respect tothe substrate. The reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen ions. Dependences of the reaction rates ontemperature and different...

Oxidation of levofloxacin by acidic permanganate: a kinetic and mechanistic study

The kinetic and mechanistic investigation of oxidation of levofloxacin (LF) has been studied by permanganate ion in aqueous sulphuric acid medium at 25°C. The reaction followed first-order kinetics with respect to [LF], and [H+] in their lower concentrations range, tending to zero-order at their higher concentrations. The effect of added products and dielectric constant of the medium was studie...

Spectrophotometric Analysis of Vardenafil in Tablet Dosage Forms by Using Electrophilic Coupling Reagents

Two new spectrophotometric methods (M1 and M2) are developed for the determination of vardenafil in bulk and in tablet dosage forms. The method M1 involves oxidative coupling of vardenafil with 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone hydrochloride in presence of ferric chloride in acidic medium yielding green colored chromogen with absorption maxima at 625 nm. The method M2 is based on the oxida...
